Chubu Electric Power's service area has primarily covered the Chubu region, including Aichi Prefecture and areas west of the Fuji River in Shizuoka Prefecture. While Japan's electric power policy has gradually liberalized power generation since 1995 and retail electricity since 2000, with full liberalization implemented in 2016, the transmission and distribution sector still maintains a regional monopoly system. Chubu Electric Power continues to maintain a high market share in its regional power business.
