Tokyo Stocks Open Higher on U.S. Tech Stock Gains
The Tokyo stock market opened higher on the 3rd, with the Nikkei Stock Average rising 576 yen from the previous day to 53,039 yen, rebounding at the opening.
In the U.S. stock market the previous day, major stock indices were mixed, but technology stocks were firm, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) posting gains. The Tokyo stock market opened higher, buoyed by this positive momentum. The exchange rate is trading around \159.50 to the dollar.
