On the 16th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 134.15 yen (0.30%) higher from the previous weekend to 44,902.27 yen, rising for the forth days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 1076, lost was 492, and unchanged was 48. The number of rising stocks significantly exceeded the number of falling stocks.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 48.62 yen. This was followed by Tokyo Electron <8035> at 43.56 yen, DISCO <6146> at 22.83 yen, TDK <6762> at 21.02 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> at 20.43 yen.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 77.79 yen to The Nikkei. Below, TERUMO <4543> was at 18.91 yen, Nintendo <7974> was at 15.7 yen, NITTO DENKO <6988> was at 13.17 yen, BANDAI NAMCO <7832> was at 11.35 yen.
By industry, 26 of the 33 industries gained. Oil & Coal Products Sector ranked first, followed by Transportation Equipment Sector, Fishery, Agriculture & Forestry Sector, and Precision Instruments Sector. Other Products Sector, Real Estate Sector, and Retail Trade Sector were among the top losers.
