On the 23rd, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 49.14 yen (-0.13%) lower from the previous weekend to 38,354.09 yen, falling for the third days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 652, lost was 914, and unchanged was 57. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
ADVANTEST <6857> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 32.2 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 27.94 yen, SONY <6758> was at 12.81 yen, TDK <6762> was at 10.23 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> was at 6.32 yen.
The top positive contributor was CHUGAI PHARMA <4519>, pushing up The Nikkei by 32.03 yen. This was followed by FAST RETAILING <9983> at 26.34 yen, TERUMO <4543> at 13.70 yen, BANDAI NAMCO <7832> at 10.58 yen, DAIKIN INDUSTRIES <6367> at 8.98 yen.
By industry, 12 of the 33 industries gained. Mining Sector ranked first, followed by Precision Instruments Sector, Food Products Sector, and Pharmaceuticals Sector. Electric Power & Gas Sector, Nonferrous Metals Sector, and Iron & Steel Sector were among the top losers.
