On the 16th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 12.95 yen (-0.03%) lower from the previous weekend to 39,457.49 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 611, lost was 973, and unchanged was 57. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.

FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 40.84 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 20.22 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> was at 9.86 yen, Nitori <9843> was at 7.4 yen, Tokio Marine <8766> was at 6.51 yen.

The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 46.82 yen. This was followed by SoftBank Group Corp <9984> at 18.15 yen, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> at 17.26 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> at 13.32 yen, BANDAI NAMCO <7832> at 9.86 yen.

By industry, 9 of the 33 industries gained. Textiles & Apparels Sector ranked first, followed by Other Products Sector, Rubber Products Sector, and Metal Products Sector. Land Transportation Sector, Oil & Coal Products Sector, and Air Transportation Sector were among the top losers.
