PowerX surges on adoption by Mori Trust for first grid-scale battery storage project
PowerX <485A> surged sharply. Mori Trust (Minato-ku, Tokyo) announced on the 2nd that it will launch development and operation of a grid-scale battery storage facility in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, marking the company's first entry into the grid-scale battery storage business. The stock gained on positive reaction to the adoption of PowerX products for the batteries.
The "Lake Biwa Battery Storage Project" will have a rated output of 8.7 megawatts and a rated capacity of 19.7 megawatt-hours, with operations scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027. Mori Trust has been advancing investments in green infrastructure, including the introduction of 100% renewable energy to its rental office buildings and the promotion of solar power generation projects. As part of these efforts, the company has set a policy to engage in grid-scale battery storage business, which serves as infrastructure providing power "adjustment capacity," and announced its first entry into this sector.
