As of 1 p.m., the number of advancing stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market stood at 1,236, while declining stocks totaled 283, with 53 issues unchanged. By sector, 29 out of 33 industries posted gains. Nonferrous metals, electrical equipment, mining, and machinery led the advancers. Pharmaceuticals, textiles, and insurance were among the notable decliners.
