INPEX Tumbles as WTI Crude Slides to the $91 Range in Overnight Trading
INPEX <1605> opened bid-less, with no buyers in sight. WTI (West Texas Intermediate) crude oil futures for May delivery briefly fell to the $91 per barrel range as of just after 8:30 a.m. JST. On the evening of the 7th U.S. time (morning of the 8th JST), U.S. President Trump took to social media to announce a two-week pause on large-scale military action against Iran. In response, crude oil futures plunged, dragging down oil-related stocks including INPEX. WTI's settlement price on the 7th (the equivalent of a closing price) was $112.95 per barrel, up $0.54 from the previous session.
