On the 2nd, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 1,276.41 yen (-2.38%) lower from the previous day to 52,463.27 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 319, lost was 1220, and unchanged was 34. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.

ADVANTEST <6857> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 331.87 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 128.72 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 126.71 yen, TDK <6762> was at 64.11 yen, FAST RETAILING <9983> was at 53.1 yen.

The top positive contributor was KDDI <9433>, pushing up The Nikkei by 31.38 yen. This was followed by CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> at 19.91 yen, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries <7011> at 4.06 yen, KIKKOMAN <2801> at 3.69 yen, Ajinomoto <2802> at 2.48 yen.

By industry, 30 of the 33 industries lost, with only 3 industries Marine Transportation Sector, Land Transportation Sector, and Warehousing & Harbor Transportation Service Sector, gained. Oil & Coal Products Sector ranked as a top loser, followed by Mining Sector, Nonferrous Metals Sector, Insurance Sector, Electric Appliances Sector, and Construction Sector.
