The dollar-yen exchange rate in the Tokyo foreign exchange market on the 2nd stood at around \159.43 per dollar as of 3:00 p.m., marking a rise of over 60 yen compared to 5:00 p.m. the previous day, with the dollar strengthening against the yen. The dollar-yen pair was trading around \158.70 as of 9:00 a.m., but surged sharply to the \159.40 level shortly after 11:40 a.m., with the dollar strengthening rapidly against the yen. U.S. President Trump delivered a speech at 10:00 a.m. Japan time (9:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the 1st), but it contained no concrete details toward ending the war with Iran. While market expectations had been building for an early ceasefire, Trump stated that "we will attack intensively over the next two to three weeks," triggering a 'flight to dollar' sentiment that quickly gained dominance. Trading in the afternoon continued to fluctuate around the \159.40 level.

The euro against the dollar traded at around $1.1525 per euro, down slightly more than $0.0050, with the euro weakening against the dollar.
