On the 31st, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 822.13 yen (-1.58%) lower from the previous day to 51,063.72 yen, falling for the forth days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 611, lost was 903, and unchanged was 56. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
Tokyo Electron <8035> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 161.45 yen to The Nikkei. Below, ADVANTEST <6857> was at 159.11 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 109.9 yen, Fujikura <5803> was at 83.23 yen, Mitsubishi <8058> was at 35.3 yen.
The top positive contributor was Recruit Holdings <6098>, pushing up The Nikkei by 21.06 yen. This was followed by DENSO <6902> at 7.55 yen, KONAMI <9766> at 7.35 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> at 7.02 yen, KDDI <9433> at 5.82 yen.
By industry, 8 of the 33 industries gained. Services Sector ranked first, followed by Pulp & Paper Sector, Insurance Sector, and Textiles & Apparels Sector. Nonferrous Metals Sector, Mining Sector, and Wholesale Trade Sector were among the top losers.
