Nikkei 225 close on the 1st = down, 529 yen lower to 42,188 yen

On the 1st, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 529.68 yen (-1.24%) lower from the previous weekend to 42,188.79 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 748, lost was 807, and unchanged was 60.

ADVANTEST <6857> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 249.86 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 158.02 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 38.49 yen, FAST RETAILING <9983> was at 25.12 yen, DISCO <6146> was at 21.54 yen.

The top positive contributor was KDDI <9433>, pushing up The Nikkei by 13.17 yen. This was followed by OLYMPUS <7733> at 10.80 yen, Otsuka <4578> at 5.67 yen, M3 Inc <2413> at 5.55 yen, HONDA MOTOR <7267> at 5.47 yen.

By industry, 18 of the 33 industries gained. Electric Power & Gas Sector ranked first, followed by Pharmaceuticals Sector, Land Transportation Sector, and Fishery, Agriculture & Forestry Sector. Nonferrous Metals Sector, Securities & Commodities Futures Sector, and Electric Appliances Sector were among the top losers.
