On the 18th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 348.41 yen (0.90%) higher from the previous day to 38,885.15 yen, rising for the third days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 1093, lost was 457, and unchanged was 74. The number of rising stocks significantly exceeded the number of falling stocks.
The top positive contributor was FAST RETAILING <9983>, pushing up The Nikkei by 73.44 yen. This was followed by ADVANTEST <6857> at 30.07 yen, Nintendo <7974> at 27.27 yen, KONAMI <9766> at 13.47 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> at 13.17 yen.
CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 8.38 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Fujikura <5803> was at 3.49 yen, NIDEC <6594> was at 2.87 yen, KDDI <9433> was at 2.79 yen, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries <7011> was at 2.36 yen.
By industry, 28 of the 33 industries gained. Other Products Sector ranked first, followed by Pulp & Paper Sector, Securities & Commodities Futures Sector, and Mining Sector. Iron & Steel Sector, Marine Transportation Sector, and Machinery Sector were among the top losers.
