On the 17th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 225.41 yen (0.59%) higher from the previous day to 38,536.74 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 953, lost was 592, and unchanged was 79. The number of rising stocks significantly exceeded the number of falling stocks.
The top positive contributor was Tokyo Electron <8035>, pushing up The Nikkei by 70.35 yen. This was followed by ADVANTEST <6857> at 60.40 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> at 35.12 yen, Nintendo <7974> at 16.46 yen, KONAMI <9766> at 15.47 yen.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 39.91 yen to The Nikkei. Below, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> was at 7.78 yen, DAIKIN INDUSTRIES <6367> was at 5.82 yen, Nitori <9843> was at 5.82 yen, DAIICHI SANKYO <4568> was at 4.29 yen.
By industry, 22 of the 33 industries gained. Other Products Sector ranked first, followed by Nonferrous Metals Sector, Glass & Ceramics Products Sector, and Real Estate Sector. Iron & Steel Sector, Marine Transportation Sector, and Pharmaceuticals Sector were among the top losers.
