On the 16th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 347.14 yen (-1.01%) lower from the previous day to 33,920.40 yen, falling for the first time in third days. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 642, lost was 939, and unchanged was 53. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
ADVANTEST <6857> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 101.12 yen to The Nikkei. Below, FAST RETAILING <9983> was at 43.11 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 34.93 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 29.94 yen, TERUMO <4543> was at 23.82 yen.
The top positive contributor was CHUGAI PHARMA <4519>, pushing up The Nikkei by 11.48 yen. This was followed by KDDI <9433> at 11.18 yen, Nitori <9843> at 7.07 yen, SECOM <9735> at 6.85 yen, BANDAI NAMCO <7832> at 4.69 yen.
By industry, 12 of the 33 industries gained. Air Transportation Sector ranked first, followed by Construction Sector, Fishery, Agriculture & Forestry Sector, and Warehousing & Harbor Transportation Service Sector. Marine Transportation Sector, Nonferrous Metals Sector, and Banks Sector were among the top losers.
