Earnings ReportSUMITOMO CHEMICAL COMPANY, LIMITED <4005> [TSE Prime] announced its financial results (based on IFRS) in the afternoon session on November 4th (13:30). The consolidated net income/loss for the cumulative second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2026 (April to September) turned into a profit of 39.6 billion yen (compared to a loss of 6.52 billion yen in the same period last year), exceeded the previous forecast of 25.0 billion yen.
In addition, the full-year forecast for consolidated net income has been revised upward 12.5%, from the previous forecast of 40.0 billion yen to 45.0 billion yen (compared to 38.5 billion yen in the previous period), increasing the growth rate from 3.7% to 16.6%.
Based on the first-half performance announced by the company and the full-year plan, our calculation indicates that the consolidated net income for the October to March period (second half) is expected to significant drop 88.3% from the same period last year to 5.30 billion yen.
In the most recent three-month period, from July to September (2Q), the consolidated net income/loss turned to a profit of 44.2 billion yen (compared to a loss of 30.9 billion yen in the same period last year). However, the operating profit margin decreased from 17.4% in the same period last year to 13.7%.
