Iran's effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz following attacks by the United States and Israel has made procurement of raw materials, including naphtha (crude gasoline), increasingly difficult. Against this backdrop, recycling of plastics and other materials is attracting attention.
Additionally, the enforcement of the revised Act on the Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources on April 1st, which mandates the use of recycled resources, appears to be another factor driving interest. The law establishes a new framework for "Designated Products for Promoting the Use of Decarbonized Recycled Resources," designating "plastic containers and packaging," "four categories of home appliances (unit air conditioners, television receivers, electric refrigerators, and electric washing machines)," and "automobiles (those subject to the Automobile Recycling Law)." Companies with sales or production volumes exceeding certain thresholds are now required to report on specified products that should promote the use of recycled plastics.
Major related stocks include AMITA HOLDINGS CO.,LTD. <2195>, a major waste recycling company; SANIX HOLDINGS INCORPORATED <4651>, whose group company engages in waste plastic recycling; ENVIPRO HOLDINGS Inc. <5698>, which supports initiatives for developing recycled plastic material products; PLACO CO.,LTD. <6347>, which manufactures recycling equipment; and REFINVERSE Group,Inc. <7375>, which produces recycled plastic materials from waste plastic.
