On the 24th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 495.39 yen (0.87%) higher from the previous weekend to 57,321.09 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 1043, lost was 505, and unchanged was 44. The number of rising stocks significantly exceeded the number of falling stocks.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 306.18 yen. This was followed by Fujikura <5803> at 76.54 yen, IBIDEN <4062> at 48.60 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> at 42.12 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> at 30.08 yen.
SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 186.92 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Trend Micro <4704> was at 26.14 yen, BayCurrent Inc <6532> was at 20.69 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 12.13 yen, KONAMI <9766> was at 12.03 yen.
By industry, 23 of the 33 industries gained. Nonferrous Metals Sector ranked first, followed by Glass & Ceramics Products Sector, Precision Instruments Sector, and Textiles & Apparels Sector. Information & Communication Sector, Banks Sector, and Securities & Commodities Futures Sector were among the top losers.
