On the 21st, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 216.46 yen (-0.41%) lower from the previous day to 52,774.64 yen, falling for the fifth days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 329, lost was 1211, and unchanged was 56. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 67.39 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 32.09 yen, KONAMI <9766> was at 23.57 yen, BayCurrent Inc <6532> was at 14.84 yen, KDDI <9433> was at 12.23 yen.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 76.21 yen. This was followed by Fujikura <5803> at 35.10 yen, IBIDEN <4062> at 25.74 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> at 19.25 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> at 13.04 yen.
By industry, 4 of the 33 industries gained. Nonferrous Metals Sector ranked first, followed by Oil & Coal Products Sector, Electric Power & Gas Sector, and Mining Sector. Banks Sector, Insurance Sector, and Services Sector were among the top losers.
