On the 28th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 86.81 yen (0.17%) higher from the previous day to 50,253.91 yen, rising for the forth days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 1148, lost was 402, and unchanged was 56. The number of rising stocks significantly exceeded the number of falling stocks.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 44.12 yen. This was followed by IBIDEN <4062> at 14.37 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> at 9.69 yen, FANUC <6954> at 9.53 yen, TOYOTA TSUSHO <8015> at 5.72 yen.
Tokyo Electron <8035> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 38.11 yen to The Nikkei. Below, FAST RETAILING <9983> was at 9.63 yen, SECOM <9735> was at 5.48 yen, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> was at 5.21 yen, Fujikura <5803> was at 5.01 yen.
By industry, 25 of the 33 industries gained. Iron & Steel Sector ranked first, followed by Other Financial Business Sector, Pulp & Paper Sector, and Machinery Sector. Air Transportation Sector, Land Transportation Sector, and Retail Trade Sector were among the top losers.
