On the 5th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 438.48 yen (1.03%) higher from the previous day to 43,018.75 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 1086, lost was 467, and unchanged was 63. The number of rising stocks significantly exceeded the number of falling stocks.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 64.83 yen. This was followed by TDK <6762> at 54.95 yen, FAST RETAILING <9983> at 54.29 yen, NITTO DENKO <6988> at 16.71 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> at 15.70 yen.
KONAMI <9766> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 11.14 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 10.74 yen, BANDAI NAMCO <7832> was at 7.39 yen, KDDI <9433> was at 4.86 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> was at 3.04 yen.
By industry, 25 of the 33 industries gained. Precision Instruments Sector ranked first, followed by Iron & Steel Sector, Rubber Products Sector, and Transportation Equipment Sector. Air Transportation Sector, Oil & Coal Products Sector, and Warehousing & Harbor Transportation Service Sector were among the top losers.
