On the 12th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 248.10 yen (-0.65%) lower from the previous day to 38,173.09 yen, falling for the first time in fifth days. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 563, lost was 984, and unchanged was 79. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 99.79 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 30.34 yen, TDK <6762> was at 19.46 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> was at 19.29 yen, ADVANTEST <6857> was at 10.11 yen.
The top positive contributor was Tokyo Electron <8035>, pushing up The Nikkei by 11.97 yen. This was followed by KDDI <9433> at 6.19 yen, KONAMI <9766> at 5.99 yen, Nitori <9843> at 5.41 yen, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries <7011> at 5.32 yen.
By industry, 12 of the 33 industries gained. Oil & Coal Products Sector ranked first, followed by Mining Sector, Machinery Sector, and Banks Sector. Services Sector, Transportation Equipment Sector, and Chemicals Sector were among the top losers.
