On the 3rd, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 23.86 yen (-0.06%) lower from the previous day to 37,446.81 yen, falling for the third days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 566, lost was 996, and unchanged was 65. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 23.35 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 20.46 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 19.66 yen, TDK <6762> was at 13.97 yen, DAIICHI SANKYO <4568> was at 11.38 yen.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 49.76 yen. This was followed by FAST RETAILING <9983> at 31.13 yen, M3 Inc <2413> at 9.78 yen, NITTO DENKO <6988> at 7.65 yen, SMC <6273> at 7.05 yen.
By industry, 14 of the 33 industries gained. Mining Sector ranked first, followed by Machinery Sector, Marine Transportation Sector, and Oil & Coal Products Sector. Electric Power & Gas Sector, Pharmaceuticals Sector, and Wholesale Trade Sector were among the top losers.
