On the 23rd, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 312.62 yen (0.79%) higher from the previous day to 39,958.87 yen, rising for the forth days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 637, lost was 935, and unchanged was 68. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
The top positive contributor was SoftBank Group Corp <9984>, pushing up The Nikkei by 103.58 yen. This was followed by ADVANTEST <6857> at 60.76 yen, FAST RETAILING <9983> at 41.73 yen, TDK <6762> at 27.13 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> at 26.14 yen.
DISCO <6146> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 8.42 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> was at 8.22 yen, Lasertec <6920> was at 6.71 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 5.92 yen, Nitori <9843> was at 5.51 yen.
By industry, 26 of the 33 industries gained. Nonferrous Metals Sector ranked first, followed by Other Products Sector, Machinery Sector, and Real Estate Sector. Electric Power & Gas Sector, Pharmaceuticals Sector, and Warehousing & Harbor Transportation Service Sector were among the top losers.
