On the 20th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 451.04 yen (1.17%) higher from the previous weekend to 38,902.50 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 1290, lost was 302, and unchanged was 48. The number of rising stocks significantly exceeded the number of falling stocks.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 55.77 yen. This was followed by FAST RETAILING <9983> at 39.06 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> at 37.68 yen, DAIICHI SANKYO <4568> at 33.14 yen, FANUC <6954> at 29.43 yen.
Nintendo <7974> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 9.21 yen to The Nikkei. Below, KONAMI <9766> was at 4.11 yen, BANDAI NAMCO <7832> was at 3.06 yen, DENTSU <4324> was at 1.64 yen, NEXON <3659> was at 1.45 yen.
By industry, 30 of the 33 industries gained, with only 3 industries, Other Products Sector, Mining Sector, and Marine Transportation Sector, lost. Transportation Equipment Sector ranked as a top gainer, followed by Pharmaceuticals Sector, Banks Sector, Glass & Ceramics Products Sector, Securities & Commodities Futures Sector, and Electric Appliances Sector.
