On the 18th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 282.97 yen (-0.72%) lower from the previous day to 39,081.71 yen, falling for the forth days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 583, lost was 995, and unchanged was 61. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 83.45 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 79.51 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 27.62 yen, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> was at 18.55 yen, SONY <6758> was at 14.63 yen.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 25.25 yen. This was followed by DISCO <6146> at 13.68 yen, DAIICHI SANKYO <4568> at 10.55 yen, TOYOTA MOTOR <7203> at 8.88 yen, EBARA <6361> at 3.09 yen.
By industry, 10 of the 33 industries gained. Transportation Equipment Sector ranked first, followed by Electric Power & Gas Sector, Other Financial Business Sector, and Securities & Commodities Futures Sector. Other Products Sector, Services Sector, and Information & Communication Sector were among the top losers.
