Sumitomo Bakelite, Net Income Forecast for the Fiscal Year Revised Upward by 9%, Exceeded Record Profit Forecast

Earnings ReportSumitomo Bakelite Company Limited <4203> [TSE Prime] announced its financial results (based on IFRS) at noon (11:30) on February 2nd. The consolidated net income for the cumulative third quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2026 (April to December) expanded 19.6 billion yen, an increase 53.2% compared to the same period last year.
In addition, the full-year forecast for consolidated net income has been revised upward 8.5%, from the previous forecast of 23.5 billion yen to 25.5 billion yen (compared to 19.2 billion yen in the previous period), increasing the growth rate from 21.9% to 32.3%. The company has further increased its previous forecast of record profits for the first time in two years.
Based on the full-year plan announced by the company after the upward revision, our estimate of the consolidated net income for the October to March period (second half) is expected to increase 19.6%, from the previous forecast of 10.2 billion yen to 12.2 billion yen (compared to 6.54 billion yen in the same period of the previous year), increasing the growth rate from 56.1% to 86.7%.
In the most recent three-month period, from October to December (3Q), the consolidated net income surged 56 times that of the same period last year, reaching 6.40 billion yen. The operating profit margin drastically improved from 3.3% in the same period last year to 10.3%.
