Chiyoda Shares Hold Steady Despite First Same-Store Sales Dip in 3 Months
Chiyoda Co., Ltd. <8185> remained resilient today despite reporting a 0.6% year-on-year slide in March same-store sales (SSS)?its first decline in three months. The market largely viewed the result as being in line with expectations.
Customer traffic saw a late-month recovery, buoyed by the launch of value-oriented collections for women and children to combat rising living costs, as well as a 90th-anniversary commemorative sale. However, these gains were offset by sluggish demand for business footwear, particularly within the new-graduate segment. Total store sales for the month fell 2.2% YoY.
