Sumitomo Electric, Ordinary Profit Forecast for the Fiscal Year Revised Upward to an Unexpected 12% Increase, Raises Record High Profit, Dividend Revised Upward by 18 Yen

Earnings ReportSumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. <5802> [TSE Prime] announced its financial results in the afternoon session on October 31st (15:00). The consolidated ordinary profit for the cumulative second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2026 (April to September) increased 27.8% from the same period last year, reaching 155 billion yen, exceeded the previous forecast of 126 billion yen.
In addition, the full-year forecast for consolidated ordinary profit has been revised upward 13.8%, from the previous forecast of 304 billion yen to 346 billion yen (compared to 309 billion yen in the previous period), record profits reach three consecutive terms, turning to an 11.8% increase in the consolidated ordinary profit outlook.
Based on the first-half performance announced by the company and the full-year plan, our calculation indicates that the consolidated ordinary profit for the October to March period (second half) is expected to grow 1.4% from the same period last year, reaching 190 billion yen.
In light of the strong performance, the company has increased its planned annual dividend for the current fiscal year from the original plan of 100 yen to 118 yen (compared to 97 yen in the previous period).
In the most recent three-month period, from July to September (2Q), the consolidated ordinary profit increased 48.9% from the same period last year, reaching 93.6 billion yen. The operating profit margin improved from 5.8% in the same period last year to 7.6%.
