QD Laser and TDK enter business cooperation for development of RGB light source modules for XR glasses
QD Laser,Inc. <6613> announced after the close of trading on the 1st that it has entered into a business cooperation agreement with TDK Corporation <6762> for the joint development of next-generation RGB light source modules and optical engines for XR glasses using QD Laser's retinal projection technology, as well as the transfer of some patent rights related to the technology to TDK. According to QD Laser, the company's retinal projection technology uses weak laser light to project images directly onto the retina, offering advantages over other display methods in terms of miniaturization, low power consumption, and focus-free viewing. The two companies will jointly promote research and market development based on the agreement going forward. QD Laser also disclosed that it has revised its net income forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 from a previously projected loss of 58 million yen to a profit of 441 million yen (compared to a loss of 357 million yen in the previous year). The company will record approximately 500 million yen as extraordinary income from the partial transfer of patent rights.
