SANYO DENKI extends gains in late afternoon trading on development of lithium-ion battery UPS
SANYO DENKI CO.,LTD. <6516> extended gains in late afternoon trading. The company announced around 3 p.m. the development of a new lithium-ion battery-equipped online uninterruptible power supply (UPS), the SANUPS A13A-Li, a move welcomed by investors.
The new product features a lifespan three times longer than the company's conventional lead-acid battery models, eliminating the need for battery replacement for 15 years and reducing maintenance costs. It is also more than 15% lighter than conventional lead-acid models. When compared to long-life lead-acid UPS systems, the product cuts installation space to one-third and weight to one-quarter, offering significant space savings. SANYO DENKI plans to market the UPS for broadcasting, telecommunications, factory equipment, servers, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and medical devices such as MRIs and CT scanners.
