Crude Oil ETFs Including NEXT FUNDS Nomura Crude Oil Long Fall Sharply as WTI Drops to $91 in After-Hours Trading◇
Crude oil ETFs fell across the board. NEXT FUNDS Nomura Crude Oil Long Index Linked ETF <1699>, Simplex WTI ETF <1671>, and WisdomTree WTI Crude Oil <1690> all plunged sharply. WTI (West Texas Intermediate) crude oil futures for May delivery temporarily dropped to the $91 per barrel level during morning trading in Japan. The selloff was triggered by U.S. President Trump's social media post on the evening of April 7th (morning of April 8th Japan Standard Time) announcing that he had agreed to suspend large-scale military strikes against Iran for two weeks, which sent crude oil futures prices sharply lower. The settlement price for WTI on April 7th was $112.95, up $0.54 from the previous session.
