INPEX and Japan Petroleum Exploration decline as WTI crude falls on hopes for end to Iran conflict◇
INPEX CORPORATION <1605> and Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. <1662> traded lower. U.S. crude oil futures fell on the 31st, with WTI (West Texas Intermediate) May contracts declining $1.50 to $101.38 per barrel from the previous day. Iranian President Pezeshkian was reported to have stated his "willingness to end the war," contingent on certain conditions being met, including essential guarantees to prevent a recurrence of aggression. The remarks were reportedly made during a phone conversation with European Union President Costa on the 30th. This development led to selling pressure in the crude oil market. However, WTI prices were trading around $102 in after-hours trading as of shortly after 9:00 a.m. Japan time, remaining at elevated levels.
