On the 17th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 50.76 yen (-0.09%) lower from the previous day to 53,700.39 yen, falling for the forth days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 1005, lost was 522, and unchanged was 59. The number of rising stocks significantly exceeded the number of falling stocks.
ADVANTEST <6857> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 159.11 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 52.14 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 37.1 yen, Fujikura <5803> was at 34.26 yen, Lasertec <6920> was at 26.07 yen.
The top positive contributor was FAST RETAILING <9983>, pushing up The Nikkei by 32.09 yen. This was followed by IBIDEN <4062> at 23.40 yen, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> at 20.16 yen, TDK <6762> at 19.30 yen, DAIICHI SANKYO <4568> at 16.50 yen.
By industry, 25 of the 33 industries gained. Marine Transportation Sector ranked first, followed by Mining Sector, Oil & Coal Products Sector, and Pharmaceuticals Sector. Nonferrous Metals Sector, Other Products Sector, and Glass & Ceramics Products Sector were among the top losers.
