On the 16th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 68.46 yen (-0.13%) lower from the previous weekend to 53,751.15 yen, falling for the third days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 614, lost was 899, and unchanged was 74. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
TDK <6762> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 41.87 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Fujikura <5803> was at 29.75 yen, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> was at 24.57 yen, FANUC <6954> was at 24.4 yen, FAST RETAILING <9983> was at 24.07 yen.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 131.03 yen. This was followed by Tokyo Electron <8035> at 81.22 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> at 24.87 yen, IBIDEN <4062> at 19.72 yen, MITSUI & CO <8031> at 9.76 yen.
By industry, 7 of the 33 industries gained. Fishery, Agriculture & Forestry Sector ranked first, followed by Food Products Sector, Information & Communication Sector, and Warehousing & Harbor Transportation Service Sector. Nonferrous Metals Sector, Oil & Coal Products Sector, and Rubber Products Sector were among the top losers.
