On the 8th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 844.72 yen (-1.63%) lower from the previous day to 51,117.26 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 629, lost was 903, and unchanged was 67. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 283.18 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 153.42 yen, ADVANTEST <6857> was at 133.7 yen, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063> was at 34.93 yen, TDK <6762> was at 28.33 yen.
The top positive contributor was CHUGAI PHARMA <4519>, pushing up The Nikkei by 9.53 yen. This was followed by Otsuka <4578> at 9.16 yen, Shionogi <4507> at 8.22 yen, KONAMI <9766> at 8.02 yen, Sumitomo Pharma <4506> at 6.87 yen.
By industry, 10 of the 33 industries gained. Pharmaceuticals Sector ranked first, followed by Electric Power & Gas Sector, Air Transportation Sector, and Oil & Coal Products Sector. Nonferrous Metals Sector, Electric Appliances Sector, and Information & Communication Sector were among the top losers.
