On the 17th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 52.62 yen (-0.10%) lower from the previous weekend to 50,323.91 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 615, lost was 932, and unchanged was 62. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 239.86 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SONY <6758> was at 25.4 yen, DAIKIN INDUSTRIES <6367> was at 22.06 yen, RYOHIN KEIKAKU <7453> was at 20.39 yen, NITTO DENKO <6988> was at 17.72 yen.
The top positive contributor was Tokyo Electron <8035>, pushing up The Nikkei by 145.40 yen. This was followed by ADVANTEST <6857> at 125.68 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> at 112.31 yen, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> at 39.11 yen, IBIDEN <4062> at 26.74 yen.
By industry, 14 of the 33 industries gained. Nonferrous Metals Sector ranked first, followed by Electric Power & Gas Sector, Information & Communication Sector, and Oil & Coal Products Sector. Securities & Commodities Futures Sector, Air Transportation Sector, and Retail Trade Sector were among the top losers.
