On the 17th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 111.89 yen (-0.25%) lower from the previous day to 44,790.38 yen, falling for the first time in fifth days. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 311, lost was 1265, and unchanged was 40. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
ADVANTEST <6857> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 76.98 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 48.62 yen, Fujikura <5803> was at 17.39 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 15.9 yen, Otsuka <4578> was at 11.41 yen.
The top positive contributor was Tokyo Electron <8035>, pushing up The Nikkei by 125.10 yen. This was followed by TDK <6762> at 35.96 yen, FAST RETAILING <9983> at 17.83 yen, KDDI <9433> at 9.32 yen, SONY <6758> at 7.77 yen.
By industry, 29 of the 33 industries lost, with only 3 industries Air Transportation Sector, Retail Trade Sector, and Transportation Equipment Sector, gained. Nonferrous Metals Sector ranked as a top loser, followed by Electric Power & Gas Sector, Insurance Sector, Other Products Sector, Iron & Steel Sector, and Securities & Commodities Futures Sector.
