On the 1st, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 270.22 yen (-0.66%) lower from the previous day to 40,799.60 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 1297, lost was 291, and unchanged was 32. The percentage of rising stocks exceeded 80%.
Tokyo Electron <8035> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 498.88 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 45.58 yen, ADVANTEST <6857> was at 36.47 yen, HOYA <7741> was at 28.36 yen, Hitachi <6501> was at 13.98 yen.
The top positive contributor was KONAMI <9766>, pushing up The Nikkei by 69.56 yen. This was followed by FAST RETAILING <9983> at 42.95 yen, KDDI <9433> at 19.04 yen, FANUC <6954> at 17.05 yen, NITTO DENKO <6988> at 11.65 yen.
By industry, 24 of the 33 industries gained. Electric Power & Gas Sector ranked first, followed by Land Transportation Sector, Construction Sector, and Real Estate Sector. Precision Instruments Sector, Electric Appliances Sector, and Marine Transportation Sector were among the top losers.
