On the 1st, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 501.06 yen (-1.24%) lower from the previous day to 39,986.33 yen, falling for the first time in sixth days. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 483, lost was 1090, and unchanged was 51. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 164.45 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 60.87 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 30.83 yen, TDK <6762> was at 29.69 yen, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> was at 28.74 yen.
The top positive contributor was SoftBank Group Corp <9984>, pushing up The Nikkei by 54.88 yen. This was followed by ADVANTEST <6857> at 29.27 yen, Fujikura <5803> at 10.28 yen, Japan Exchange <8697> at 5.32 yen, SECOM <9735> at 3.66 yen.
By industry, 9 of the 33 industries gained. Electric Power & Gas Sector ranked first, followed by Other Financial Business Sector, Nonferrous Metals Sector, and Rubber Products Sector. Other Products Sector, Services Sector, and Pharmaceuticals Sector were among the top losers.
