On the 5th, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 192.96 yen (-0.51%) lower from the previous day to 37,554.49 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 567, lost was 994, and unchanged was 67. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 30.34 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 18.76 yen, TDK <6762> was at 17.71 yen, KONAMI <9766> was at 16.13 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 14.97 yen.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 90.21 yen. This was followed by Tokyo Electron <8035> at 84.82 yen, Lasertec <6920> at 10.44 yen, Nitori <9843> at 5.82 yen, Fujikura <5803> at 5.72 yen.
By industry, 4 of the 33 industries gained. Metal Products Sector ranked first, followed by Land Transportation Sector, Nonferrous Metals Sector, and Warehousing & Harbor Transportation Service Sector. Marine Transportation Sector, Transportation Equipment Sector, and Oil & Coal Products Sector were among the top losers.
