On the 2nd, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 494.43 yen (-1.30%) lower from the previous weekend to 37,470.67 yen. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 560, lost was 1012, and unchanged was 55. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.

ADVANTEST <6857> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 73.71 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 51.69 yen, FAST RETAILING <9983> was at 43.91 yen, Tokyo Electron <8035> was at 39.42 yen, TDK <6762> was at 31.93 yen.

The top positive contributor was CHUGAI PHARMA <4519>, pushing up The Nikkei by 14.77 yen. This was followed by KONAMI <9766> at 7.65 yen, FUJITSU LIMITED <6702> at 4.76 yen, Nomura Research Institute <4307> at 4.56 yen, Sumitomo Realty & Development <8830> at 3.96 yen.

By industry, 5 of the 33 industries gained. Warehousing & Harbor Transportation Service Sector ranked first, followed by Construction Sector, Insurance Sector, and Real Estate Sector. Rubber Products Sector, Transportation Equipment Sector, and Precision Instruments Sector were among the top losers.
