On the 1st, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 406.92 yen (1.13%) higher from the previous day to 36,452.30 yen, rising for the sixth days in a row. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 588, lost was 987, and unchanged was 57. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
The top positive contributor was ADVANTEST <6857>, pushing up The Nikkei by 107.50 yen. This was followed by SoftBank Group Corp <9984> at 30.14 yen, TDK <6762> at 29.19 yen, Recruit Holdings <6098> at 27.44 yen, CHUGAI PHARMA <4519> at 21.95 yen.
Murata Manufacturing <6981> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 22.63 yen to The Nikkei. Below, SONY <6758> was at 17.96 yen, Nitori <9843> was at 8.4 yen, MITSUI & CO <8031> was at 7.18 yen, RYOHIN KEIKAKU <7453> was at 6.22 yen.
By industry, 20 of the 33 industries gained. Precision Instruments Sector ranked first, followed by Land Transportation Sector, Glass & Ceramics Products Sector, and Other Products Sector. Marine Transportation Sector, Banks Sector, and Pulp & Paper Sector were among the top losers.
