On the 21st, Nikkei Stock Average <^N225> closed 450.36 yen (-1.30%) lower from the previous weekend to 34,279.92 yen, falling for the first time in third days. The number of stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Prime gained was 651, lost was 936, and unchanged was 47. The number of declining stocks significantly exceeded the number of rising stocks.
FAST RETAILING <9983> was the highest on the list with a negative contribution of 65.46 yen to The Nikkei. Below, Recruit Holdings <6098> was at 33.83 yen, SoftBank Group Corp <9984> was at 31.73 yen, SONY <6758> was at 14.8 yen, TDK <6762> was at 14.47 yen.
The top positive contributor was CHUGAI PHARMA <4519>, pushing up The Nikkei by 9.18 yen. This was followed by Nitori <9843> at 8.32 yen, NICHIREI <2871> at 1.93 yen, AEON <8267> at 1.86 yen, NH Foods <2282> at 1.55 yen.
By industry, 4 of the 33 industries gained. Pulp & Paper Sector ranked first, followed by Land Transportation Sector, Fishery, Agriculture & Forestry Sector, and Retail Trade Sector. Transportation Equipment Sector, Oil & Coal Products Sector, and Nonferrous Metals Sector were among the top losers.
